Hi John,
Did you catch the Emmys? We were thrilled to see several care-inclusive shows honored, but there’s still more work to be done to make sure Hollywood continues this trend.
From normalizing care support needs and responsibilities at work to portraying aging care between queer partners, Emmy-honored shows like 'The Bear,' 'The Last of Us,' 'Shrinking,' and 'Abbott Elementary' have provided examples of how to expand and diversify care representation on screen.
With award season in full swing, now is the perfect time to celebrate shows and films that are making care more visible and let Hollywood know that we love to see care on screen. It's simple—just reply to this email and tell us about your favorite care-related shows or film and what you loved about it!

Since joining Caring Across, I've teamed up with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center’s Media Impact Project. Together, we conducted studies on the current representation and impact of caregiving in scripted television.
We now have the data to show that seeing more authentic and nuanced stories on screen resonates with audiences and moves people toward valuing care as a collective responsibility.
Help me continue to celebrate and encourage Hollywood to include more care in our film and TV entertainment. Email us with your favorite on-screen care story, or one you’d like to see.
Those who provide and depend on care in this country deserve to see their experiences reflected back in the stories they consume. Together, we can help so many feel seen and valued.
With care,
