Read More Times Square Machete Attacker Pleads Guilty Trevor Bickford, 20, from Wells, Maine, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of attempting to kill NYPD officers in a jihadist attack using a machete-style knife in Times Square on New Year's Eve 2022. Bickford, a U.S. citizen, traveled to New York City intending to wage jihad, targeting the iconic New Year's Eve celebration. He ambushed three NYPD officers, injuring them seriously while declaring "Allahu Akbar." One officer shot Bickford in the shoulder, stopping the attack. Bickford admitted to planning the attack for months, consuming materials promoting radical Islamic ideology, contemplating overseas support for the Taliban, and eventually deciding to carry out an attack in the United States, aiming to kill U.S. government employees before becoming a martyr. He highlighted a passage in a book recovered from his backpack that advocated fighting in the name of Allah against non-believers. Nettina left a threatening voicemail for an advocacy organization, referencing a recent mass shooting and making explicit threats, including cutting throats and putting bullets in heads. He intentionally targeted the organization based on the gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation of its members. Additionally, Nettina sent threatening messages on social media and via email to Maryland and Virginia state delegates who expressed support for transgender rights, using derogatory language and making violent threats against them based on their gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Moceri allegedly yelled racial slurs, threatened to kill the victims, and pointed knives at them, while making discriminatory remarks. The victims, both Black, were unharmed physically. Moceri faces two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and ethnic intimidation, with a potential prison term of up to four years for assault and two years for intimidation if convicted. | Indiana Teen Arrested for Threatening to Bring a Gun to School A 15-year-old male student was arrested by Lafayette, Ind., police for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to Jefferson High School. Concerned parents reported the threats posted on Snapchat. Another student reposted the threat on a community Snapchat affiliated with the school, informing parents. The student was found and arrested. Lafayette police believe the student acted alone in posting the alleged threat online. The incident occurred in September 2023 when a phone call threat prompted the school to go into "secure mode," initiating a large-scale response and investigation. Detectives identified the suspect as part of an organized group responsible for serial swatting offenses across the country. Charges related to school threats, threats of terrorism, and false emergency reporting have been filed. | Antisemitic Incidents Have Tripled Since Oct. 7 The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported that antisemitic incidents in the U.S. more than tripled in the three months following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in Israel, with 3,283 documented incidents between October 7, 2023, and January 7, 2023. This represents a 360 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. The incidents included physical assaults, harassment, and vandalism. About two-thirds of these incidents were directly related to the Israel-Hamas war.
