Report Highlights:
In the realm of marijuana regulation, a concerning issue has come to light, emphasizing the failure of states to effectively regulate the industry. Several dispensaries have been caught promoting THC potencies on their websites that defy scientific limits. Three notable marijuana stores currently advertise THC vape products with potencies exceeding 100%, a scientifically unattainable figure—100% would be pure THC. When questioned, these establishments claimed these numbers were typos, with the actual THC content much lower.
For instance:
Green Lady Marijuana in Olympia, Washington, listed a "Tasty Terps Ring Popz" vape at an alarming 8,710% THC potency. In a phone call, they confirmed it was a typo, clarifying that the actual THC content is 85.9%.
Harvest of Chula Vista, operating as Wellgreens Dispensary in California, showcased a "Jeeter - Bubba Gum" cartridge at 914.43% potency. Again, this was stated to be a typographical error, with the actual potency being 94% THC.
MedMen in Downtown Los Angeles had a "Blue Burst" cartridge listed at 185.97% THC. Upon inquiry, they admitted the impossibility of such potency, confirming the actual THC level to be 90%.
The real concern in this scenario lies not just in misinformation but in the ability of stores to advertise and sell such high-potency products at all. The markets in California and Washington are some of the oldest and most regulated markets, yet they still fail to effectively regulate marijuana.
Letting this industry loose will never be a win for public health, communities, or individuals.
