Instead of keeping the Senate in session over the weekend to deal with COVID-19, Mitch McConnell spent the past weekend calling aging federal judges to try to convince them to retire immediately so he can further stuff the federal bench with unqualified, anti-choice conservatives who are ready to stop any progressive legislation.
We’re less than 8 months away from Election Day in November, but Mitch is ready to push through Trump’s judicial nominations, despite his insistence that he would not have a single hearing on Obama’s judicial nominations at this same point in 2016.
We MUST retake the Senate to stop Mitch McConnell. Even if we retake the White House in the fall, we won’t be able to pass progressive legislation if Mitch controls the Senate and can prevent any bill from reaching the Senate floor.
It is now clearer than ever that Democrats must win up and down the ticket in November.
We need a Democratic Senate that won’t acquit Trump of every crime, won’t confirm every anti-choice judge he nominates, and will actually act on progressive legislation.
Democrats need 4 seats to flip the Senate in 2020, and right now, we have our eyes on flipping as many as 8, but we have to turn out the vote to make sure that happens.
