Douglas & Woolley

Due to Fox Metro?s construction of a new sanitary sewer line to the Village, Douglas Road, from Woolley Road to Collins Road, will be closed starting January 23, weather permitting.

The closure is expected to last a week. Please follow the posted detour signs and allow plenty of travel time.?

Community Kauffee this Saturday

The rescheduled?Community Kauffee with Village President Ryan Kauffman [ [link removed] ]?will take place?on January 20 at the Police Department's community room with refreshments served at 8:30 a.m.?President Kauffman will share information on the Village?s finances and answer questions at 9 a.m.

RSVP by *noon* on January 19 by calling 630-551-2347 or email <[email protected]>. The Police Department is located at 3355 Woolley Road.

As snow and falling temperatures continue this season, here are some key points to remember:?


* Parking is prohibited on Village streets when two inches or more of snow has accumulated, one inch in the downtown business area.
* Don't shovel or blow snow into the streets.
* Keep your neighbors and yourself safe by shoveling curb ramps and digging out fire hydrants?so they can be accessed quickly in a fire.
* Turn on your faucet to allow a small drip, preferably from a faucet on an outside wall. Open cabinets beneath sinks to allow warm air to flow.?
* If your pipes freeze, never try to thaw a pipe with a torch or other open flame because it causes a fire hazard.
* If your water pipes burst, turn off the water at the main shutoff valve and call a plumber for assistance.
* If you're leaving town, ask a friend or neighbor to check your house daily to make sure it?s warm enough to prevent freezing.?
