Our Lady of Fatima Leading the Faithful.

Dear Friend,

On a breathtakingly beautiful day, several thousand pro-lifers of all ages took part in the Diocese of San Diego’s 12th Annual Walk for Life. This year Catholic Action for Faith and Family participated with many members and supporters by processing with its replica statue of the International Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Many other faithful gathered around the statue to recite the rosary and sing Marian hymns as they processed. The statue could be seen elevated above the crowd in the ornate carrier positioned on the shoulders of four Knights of Columbus members.

The walk even caught the attention of NBC news in San Diego. While speaking to the television reporter, Auxiliary Bishop Ramon Bejarano commented on what the Walk for Life demonstrates.  "There are many, many options for life, and that's why we have so many different organizations here present. Each one of them offers different things to help women - especially those who are in pregnancy."

Walking beside so many mothers with their children, something that St. Gianna Molla once said came to mind. “Look at the mothers who truly love their children — how many sacrifices they make for them. They are ready for everything, even to give their own blood so that their babies grow up good, healthy and strong.” It gives me hope to see both fathers and mothers teaching their children about the sanctity of life. This will bring about a new generation of committed young leaders that will be prepared to keep the fight for life going.

Many felt the presence of Our Lady as the pilgrim statue was carried throughout the walk.

This weekend, there will be the March for Life in Washington DC, the Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco and other pro-life events in every diocese. It’s not too late to participate. Learn what you can do to help women in crisis pregnancies, single mothers who are young and vulnerable, as well as those who struggle with psychological trauma after aborting their babies or being sexually abused. Pray to the Blessed Mother for discernment and guidance.

Every one of us is needed to halt the slaughter of the unborn. Are you ready to do your part to stop abortion? Commit to never be silent, passive or to forget about the unborn.

Let us ask Our Blessed Mother to come to the aid of mothers in crisis pregnancies, that they never be pressured to have an abortion.

Embracing the sacredness of life,

Thomas McKenna
