Right-wing media has been smearing progressives and progressive policies for years. We saw it ramp up on Fox News after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won in 2018.
Since then, Fox, Ted Cruz, Tucker Carlson and the rest of the GOP extremism media machine have created loads of propaganda about American cities in particular, especially as progressives filled city councils and mayors offices. Right-wing rhetoric is anti-immigrant, racist, and fear-mongering, using buzzwords like “sanctuary cities” to scare its viewers.
Republicans have been wielding local power with the support of big money special interests for decades, but Our Revolution is organizing to take back local power and deliver real change at the level of government closest to people’s lives. Last year, we helped elect a progressive supermajority in St. Louis and Mayor Brandon Johnson in Chicago — and now we’re rolling out powerful progressive slates for 2024 in cities like Sacramento and San Francisco.
