Hi Friend –
Google's repeated privacy policy updates appear to just be lip service.
Despite their promise from July 2022 to protect the privacy of abortion seekers by deleting Location History for trips to abortion clinics and other medical facilities, our recent experiments across seven states still show a staggering failure on Google's part. [1]
Our latest findings indicate that Google retains Location History data about 50% of the time. This means that individuals seeking abortion are left with the same odds as a coin flip on whether their location data might be retained by the company and potentially subpoenaed by prosecutors in right-wing states that have restricted abortion care.
Over 154 million people use Google Maps every month, entrusting their sensitive location data to a company that puts profit over privacy. [2] Join us in sharing our new report exposing these alarming findings:

In addition to our updated research, we've joined forces with the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, urging an investigation into Google's unfair and deceptive trade practices. [3] The complaint highlights Google's access to – and retention of – granular user location data and its failure to uphold promises, particularly concerning personal health location data.
We deserve to control our own data. It's imperative to fight against the weaponization of our private information by Big Tech.
Thank you for speaking out,

We see the irony of asking you to take action on the same
platforms we’re fighting to hold accountable, but they are… well…
dominant. We have to reach people where they are in order to level the
playing field -- and we’re ready to bring the fight right to their own
platforms.
