John,
Tina officially passed her one year mark as Governor, and we want to reflect on her first year in office, taking action to tackle Oregon’s biggest challenges.
On Tina’s first day as Governor, she declared a homelessness state of emergency. Since then, she’s worked with local partners around the state to:
- Create 1,032 new shelter beds, exceeding the original goal by 432 beds;
- Rehouse 1,293 households experiencing unsheltered homelessness, exceeding the original goal by 93 households; and
- Prevent 8,886 households from experiencing homelessness, exceeding the original goal by 136 households.
She’s made progress on behavioral health, working with the legislature to get hundreds of millions of dollars in investments to add capacity to substance abuse treatment facilities, require providers to give out lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication when people discharge from facilities, and more.
Tina also secured new funding for early literacy grants to improve how Oregon teaches children to read and write. Every school district across the state has applied for funding from the new program that Tina signed into law.
There are many more achievements to name, from the economy to the environment to reproductive rights — but all of them were only possible because this team worked together to elect Tina as Governor just over a year ago.
Now, we’re on to Year Two and we’re calling on this team once more. There’s still plenty of work to do, and that’s why we’re asking for your support today. Any contribution you can make today will fuel Tina’s work to help Oregonians and accomplish even more in her second year.
Can we count on you to pitch in today?
