Hello John,

At the Energy Democracy Project, we’ve committed to decolonize, reverse and repair historic harm, and advance environmental, economic, and social justice for all communitieseven when it's difficult. To us, energy democracy is about more than just clean energy: it’s a movement to transform our relationships to one another and with ecologies across the globe.

As we witness ongoing atrocities here in the U.S. and abroad, we must critically examine how the conflicts of our timefrom Palestine, to Congo, to Sudanare inextricably linked. Join us for our first conversation of the year on January 29th, drawing the lines of solidarity between Puerto Rico and Palestine:

As part of the Reimagined Energy for our Communities (REFOCUS) Campaign, we’re inviting community-members like you to join an upcoming conversation From Puerto Rico to Palestine: Reimagining New Futures.

The genocide on Palestinians is an energy justice issue, with impacts that extend across the globe and diaspora. We’ve invited a diverse set of panelists to reimagine new futures where energy is a human right:

  • Sharing stories of powerful organizing by diverse leaders throughout the country, paving the way for new futures
  • The vision for our collective liberation, from Puerto Rico to Palestine that ensures that all people–especially low-income, communities of color, and indigenous folks–have the power we need to thrive
  • Uncovering links between energy, military, and occupation that have spanned generations to block energy as a human right

2024 is the year of connection. Together, we’re peeling back the layer of top-down control and ongoing colonial legacy to build a people-powered movement. We’re working to ensure that people across race, class, and geography have access to the energy we need to keep our homes warm in the water, support clean air and water, and power safety through the seasons.

In solidarity,
