Dear John,

At Freedom for Animals we know, like you, how desperate the situation is for animals held captive and used for entertainment. Every minute of every day, animals are being manipulated and exploited by people who think they can be used as props to make profit.

Planning applications and licences for new zoos or mobile zoos are popping up, neglectful zoos are not being appropriately dealt with by councils, and cruel animal handling events and markets are continuing to be booked. BUT!

With your help we can stop these cruel activities taking place, and stop new licences being approved. We have already achieved this for many examples of cruelty in 2023, so we must keep up that same pressure!
HELP US IN THE FIGHT FOR ANIMAL FREEDOM! ([link removed])

This year, we intend to:
* Step up our campaign against the notorious South Lakes Zoo, and strengthen the call for their licence to be revoked by the council
* Release a new report on the use of animals in circuses
* Block the construction of a new zoo in Trowell, Nottinghamshire
* Release groundbreaking research into mobile zoos in the UK
* Escalate our work to end the tethering of birds of prey as part of our 'The Big Give' fundraising campaign

PLUS! We will continue to investigate zoos and aquariums as part of our wider campaign work to end the cruel captivity of animals, and shine a light on their suffering.

By taking part in our actions, signing up to our e-newsletters, and donating to our appeals YOU are part of this vital work, and we couldn't be more grateful.
