Dear John,

I wanted to be sure you saw the news. Last week, President Biden announced additional student debt relief for millions more borrowers!

Beginning in February, borrowers enrolled in President Biden's SAVE Plan who took out $12,000 or less in loans and have been in repayment for at least 10 years will automatically get their remaining student debt cancelled with no action needed on their part.

This is life-changing relief, and it will be particularly impactful for those who attended community college, low-income borrowers, and borrowers struggling to pay their loans.

Traveling across our district, I have heard from so many young people who are being crushed by the burden of student debt. Likewise, I have heard from parents who fear that their children may never be able to repay their loans.

I wholeheartedly agree with President Biden—a good education should be a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier, and I am grateful to the Biden-Harris Administration for making student debt relief a priority. We can see that their efforts are making a real difference.

Already, President Biden has canceled student debt for 3.6 million Americans. More than 6.9 million borrowers have enrolled in the SAVE Plan, including least 82,700 in Alabama, and more than HALF have monthly payments of $0.

This builds on President Biden's work to fix the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program which forgives student loans of qualifying individuals who have worked in public service for at least 10 years. Click here to check your eligibility.

Please know that I will continue to work toward a future where every student has a shot at the American Dream.

As always, please be sure to check in regularly with our website and social media pages (TwitterFacebook, and Instagram) for updates. If you'd like to share your thoughts or concerns, you can email me here.

Today and every day, it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Take good care.

Sincerely,
