As our families and communities continue to respond to the Coronavirus
pandemic, I wanted to report back to you about the work I’m doing here in DC…
Dear friend,

As our families and communities continue to respond to the Coronavirus
pandemic, I wanted to report back to you about the work I’m doing here in DC…

This week, President Trump signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act
– which provides:

* Free COVID-19 testing for all Texans who take the test
* 10 days paid sick leave for those who are ill or caring for an ill loved one
* Expansion of SNAP benefits to ensure schoolchildren on the free-and-reduced
lunch program continue to receive meals while schools are closed
* Expansion of meal delivery services, like Meals on Wheels, for seniors
* $400 million for Texas food banks to meet increased demand
Even as I write this, Congress is working on another funding bill that will
quickly provide financial resources to help Texans and businesses
bridge-the-gap during this time of economic uncertainty. We must get help
quickly for people out of work through no fault of their own, while also
ensuring there are reasonable, fiscally prudent boundaries in place.

I am thankful to my colleagues and to leaders all over the country who have
put partisanship aside for the good of the country. From Governor Abbott to
Governor Cuomo, from Speaker Pelosi to Leader McConnell… There is sense of
seriousness by most elected leaders that has been too scarce the last several
years. Sadly, my opponents continue to exploit the pandemic and lob partisan
attacks. This is a reflection on who they are, and I believe Texans will judge
this behavior accordingly come November.

As for me, as you know, I’ve suspended campaign-related activities –
including fundraising, volunteer efforts and special events, until Congress
gets its work done.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to communicate with you regularly. I’ve
launched a page dedicated to Coronavirus resources on mywebsite
<[link removed]>, and my federal offices stand ready to
serve Texans in this time of need.

As soon as it is safe, I’m going to be out there meeting with you again.
Until then, please take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your communities.
We’re in this together!

- John Cornyn
