Dear Friend,

Because YOU have spoken out over the past year–sending calls, sharing
stories, signing letters, and shouting from the rooftops!–we have a
positive update on the Child Tax Credit (CTC): Democrats and Republicans
have reached a bipartisan deal to temporarily expand the Child Tax Credit
. [ [link removed] ] WOOHOO!

This is huge news and we need to pressure Congress ASAP to get this across
the finish line before the end of January so you and your family can start
accessing this tax credit THIS tax season! That is why we are calling on
you to take these two important actions today to call on Congress to pass
the bipartisan tax package and expand the CTC now!

Join our Child Tax Credit Day of Action by taking these two important
actions:

Action #1: [1]CALL your U.S. Representative using our hotline to Congress
and tell your elected leader to “Pass and support the bipartisan
Smith-Wyden tax package and expand the Child Tax Credit immediately.”

-We make it super easy for you—[ [link removed] ]click on our hotline to Congress link
(or you can simply text CTC to 888-418-5699) and fill in your information
and you’ll get a call on your phone connecting you directly to your
Representative’s offices. We even provide you with written talking points
to assist you in your call.

Action #2: POST our Child Tax Credit action links to social media. You can
double down on your positive impact by encouraging your friends and family
to call their U.S. Representatives as well by simply reposting our action
links on social media. Simply click on the links below to repost/retweet.

*Here’s a little more about what is going on with the CTC bipartisan tax
package: U.S. Representative Jason Smith (R) and Senator Ron Wyden (D),
chairs of the powerful Ways and Mean and Finance Committees, have reached
a bipartisan agreement on a tax package that will temporarily expand the
Child Tax Credit (CTC). While the tax package also includes business tax
credits, most importantly, it prioritizes a temporary expansion of the CTC
for working families—something you and MomsRising have been fighting for
for a long time!

This is important because there are currently 19 million children excluded
from the full credit because of the current structure of the CTC. [2] This
new bipartisan tax proposal would lift as many as 400,000 children above
the poverty line and make an additional 3 million children better off this
year. Additionally, the proposal would benefit about 80% of the 19 million
children who are currently left out of the full CTC or don’t receive it at
all because their parents' earnings are too low. [3] This would be a
tremendous step in the right direction in reducing child poverty and
giving parents the resources they need to work, raise their families, and
contribute to our economy. We know much more needs to be done in the
coming years to make sure the full expansion of the CTC is made permanent
but this provides us the opportunity to help millions of families right
now and build momentum for the next step in our fight to make our tax code
more fair and equitable.

We are so grateful to you for keeping the pressure on and to all our CTC
champions in Congress who have pushed tirelessly to make this package a
reality and are not giving up until no families live in poverty including:
Senators Brown (OH), Bennet (CO), Casey (PA), Wyden (OR), and Hassan (NH)
and Representatives DelBene (WA), DeLauro (CT), and Neal (MA).

[ [link removed] ]The time is now: We need to pressure our U.S. Representatives to pass
the Smith-Wyden bi-paritsan tax package before the end of January so
parents can start accessing the expanded CTC THIS tax season!
