These donors believe that by backing certain Democrats, they can prevent a genuine, people-focused leader like Summer from winning. They fear Summer’s commitment to transparency and her fight against backroom deals and unethical practices. The goal here is to undermine a candidate like Summer who truly stands for the people.
- A Staggering Challenge: It has come to our attention that there is a plan to spend a whopping $100 million against Summer and her allies this election cycle — and Summer is their #1 target. This is not just a number—it's a clear indication of the lengths to which our opponents will go to stop our movement for change. They are investing an enormous amount of money to drown out our voices and halt our progress.
- Breaking Barriers with Limited Resources: Summer made history as the first black woman elected to Congress in Pennsylvania. Her journey from a working-class family in Braddock, PA, to the halls of Congress is an inspiration. However, the harsh reality is that candidates like Summer, especially Black women from underprivileged communities, face significant fundraising challenges. They often raise just a third of what their counterparts do, leaving them with fewer resources for essential campaign activities. This fundraising gap is further widened by the millions spent on negative and often racially charged attacks by well-funded opponents.
