We have some good news today, John! 🎉 The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit issued an opinion that blocks HB 900 from implementation — a huge win for Texas students' freedom to read! HB 900 is a controversial law that sought to completely ban or restrict materials in public school libraries by creating a vague and undefined rating system. The 5th Circuit initially allowed it to take effect in September 2023, enabling far-right extremists to use it to target the stories of our LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups. |
