An update from PM Press: Now more than ever, radical ideas and politics matter Dear Friends of PM Press, These are exceptionally uncertain times. We don’t know what the months ahead will hold. But we’re in this together for the long haul. It is especially within such dark times, when so much is at stake and the forces of power are shifting rapidly, that we fall back on some eternal and time-tested truths. Radical ideas and politics matter. We need to engage in acts of solidarity and mutual aid. We need to sustain the sources of vital information – alternative media and radical publishing – in order to help shape what sort of society we’ll be living in coming out of this crisis. The book industry has taken a good kicking. Many public spaces where we typically encounter and grapple with such ideas—bookstores, libraries, schools and universities, bars, cafes, clubs, conferences, and book fairs—have been or will be shut down. Now more than ever, mutual aid networks and communities on the front lines as well as local bookstores and independent publishers need our support and solidarity. Below is only a partial list of mutual aid resources and ways to support independent bookstores. Please share, contribute where you can, and send us new information. You'll also find selections from a new PM Press Blog series, All We Have Is Each Other, with resources, interviews, and articles challenging the dominant narratives of the crisis. We remain committed to publishing books and media to create a better world. Right now we’re offering 40% off all books, eBooks, DVDs, and CDs at pmpress.org with coupon code SOLIDARITY. When you purchase a print book, you get the eBook for free. Help us continue to amplify the vital voices of our authors, artists, and activists. Let's read more books and demand the impossible. Stay safe and hopeful, and take care of each other.
