One of the most important thing you can do right now for San Francisco is make sure you’re a registered Democrat, and make a plan to vote in the March 5th election. Why? Because winning seats in the DCCC is the first step towards housing abundance in San Francisco.
The DCCC is the governing body of the local Democratic Party. It’s comprised of local Democrats elected by registered Democrats in each Assembly District (there are two), as well as elected Democrat officials who serve as Ex Officio Officers. The San Francisco DCCC represents the City to the National Democratic Party, and makes endorsements on local races.
The current DCCC is out of touch with San Francisco voters. They've routinely opposed pro-housing measures and pro-housing candidates. Most voters in San Francisco don’t know about the DCCC, and even fewer understand its role in local politics. In recent years - starting around 2016 - the SF DCCC has engaged in performative politics and endorsed campaigns and candidates who aren't delivering solutions for our city.
The result has been that today, a majority of SF voters believe San Francisco is on the “wrong track”.
To vote in the DCCC elections please make sure you’re a registered Democrat.
You can’t vote for the DCCC in March unless you are a registered Democrat. So check your voter registration here, and make sure your Party Preference says Democratic. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to change your voter registration to be able to vote in the DCCC elections. It’s easy - you can change your party preference here until February 20, 2024.
