The federal government is on the brink of yet another government shutdown. And – once again – House Republicans are pushing cuts to food assistance, Head Start, and Medicaid in this week’s government funding vote.
But Pramila is leading the fight to stop these cuts. This month, she visited a food bank in Seattle. They told her that their needs now match what they saw at the height of the pandemic.
But what do Republicans focus on when lines stretch around the block at food pantries? Tax cuts for the rich, draconian border policies, and a crock impeachment.
Pramila won’t stand by while Republicans cut aid to needy families while cutting taxes for the wealthy. She won’t let them jack up spending on defense contractors while cutting education and health care.
We know that poverty and hunger are not someone’s personal failings – they are policy failures. And we must stop Congress from making this same mistake again.
