I’m running for Congress to work for the American people because, clearly, Republicans can’t be bothered.

Congress’ most important job is funding the government, and it should never be a partisan exercise. Republicans like Lauren Boebert have repeatedly held our country hostage by refusing to pass a balanced budget while they push their extreme agenda.

But Democrats are picking up their slack, negotiating in good faith to keep our government running smoothly.

First, Democrats had to settle on a continuing resolution to prevent a shutdown in September. Then all talks to avoid the next shutdown deadline were stalled while Republicans played “Who wants to be Speaker of the House?”

When the new speaker, extremist Mike Johnson, stepped in, Democrats stepped up once again and agreed to a partial funding package to give Republicans time to clean up their mess and give Americans room to breathe.

Now, it’s “Democrats to the rescue” again.

Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats have agreed to another continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown until March – all because Johnson and House Republicans can’t tell up from down.

There’s one rule every single company has and I think Congress should have the same: if someone refuses to do their job, you FIRE THEM.

I faithfully served my country for 18 years as a United States Marine. I spent a number of those years deployed to conflict zones around the world, and I know firsthand how it impacts our troops on the front lines when Congress is bickering over budgets.

The same goes for our seniors depending on their Social Security and Medicare, our neighbors living with disabilities, and struggling single parents who depend on WIC and SNAP to keep their children fed when their income doesn’t cover the gap. Every time Republicans kick the can down the road they leave people hanging, wondering if they’ll have enough food to make it to the end of the month.

John, I think it’s disgusting. America deserves better from Congress, and Colorado deserves a hell of a lot better than Lauren Boebert.

If Colorado gives Democrats the House majority next year, then Congress can focus on passing real legislation instead of constantly trying to solve Republican lawmakers’ squabbles.
