John,

These are admittedly scary times. The coronavirus is rapidly spreading around the world, infecting thousands of people and putting millions of us into self isolation to try and keep our communities safe and healthy. And while we should be unifying and supporting each other in times like these, Trump and his administration are driving divisions and failing to lead.

Instead of investing in public health solutions that protect our most vulnerable communities, they delayed their response until the last minute and amplified racist lies; leaving everyone at risk and stoking hate against Asian Americans. This is unacceptable and only highlights the need for more #PeopleLikeUs to serve in elected office and create systems that work for all of us.

We know that as members of the New American Leaders family, we have the power to make this happen and become the leaders our communities need. With this in mind, we've come up with a few ways you can stay involved, fight mounting racism, and keep making a difference even while in self isolation.

Are you doing any other remote volunteer work or organizing? Have an issue or campaign you're working on in your community? Let us know! [[email protected]?subject=I'm%20Organizing!] We want to connect members of the NAL family together—especially now—and are here to support you.

Stay strong, healthy, and keep washing those hands. We're looking forward to working alongside you to strengthen and grow our democracy!

In solidarity,
