Folks — I’m sure you’re probably getting a lot of political emails these days, so I thought I’d break it up with some history (my favorite topic) today.
Did you know that today is Benjamin Franklin’s birthday?
Benjamin Franklin made significant contributions to not only our Commonwealth but also our Nation – and as a history buff, I would be remiss not to share a few facts about one of our greatest Founding Fathers:
— In 1730, Franklin helped create the first public library in the U.S. when he founded the Library Company of Philadelphia.
— He held numerous positions throughout his lifetime, one of them being the first Postmaster General of the United States.
— Franklin is the only Founding Father to have signed all three documents that helped form this country: the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Treaty of Paris.
While I could go on and on as my daughters would say, I also need to share an important update from the present: My mega-millionaire opponent outraised us last quarter, and a super PAC supporting him announced an $18 million haul.
We can’t compete with the wall of GOP money headed our way without your help, but together, we can make history of our own this November.
Can you chip in $5 or whatever you can right now to help us build a winning campaign?
Please use the links in this email to start a monthly donation through ActBlue.
Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth in name as well as in life. As Pennsylvanians, we look out for each other and know that we’re stronger when we work together, so thank you.
With gratitude,
Bob Casey
