John -
Although March 3 may not have gone as we’d hoped, we still have a chance to come together and notch a huge win for our movement — right here in Texas.
As you may know, primary elections are now headed to runoffs in Texas, and one of those contests is occurring in Texas’ 24th Congressional District. That’s where progressive Candace Valenzuela can make history this year by becoming the first woman and person of color elected to Congress in her district.
Candace overcame incredible odds as a child — homelessness as a result of domestic abuse, poverty, and all the chaos that came along with it. But what makes Candace special is what she did with her experience: she ran for and won a seat on her local school board in order to better serve students and families who are in need.
Candace has a deep understanding of the struggles that so many working families face, and I know she has the experience, dedication, and passion to fight for our needs in Congress.
It’s clearer than ever that we need leaders who truly represent our communities and will put our needs first. But this is going to be a tough race and winning will require an all hands on deck effort.
As a first-time, female candidate, I can tell you from experience how much every donation and every show of support means. So please know that your support will be the difference maker and that Candace cannot do this without all of our support.
In this together,
Jessica Cisneros
