Tomorrow the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a markup of the bipartisan Providing Reliable, Objective, Verifiable Emissions Intensity and Transparency
(PROVE IT) Act. This bill would direct the Department of Energy to conduct a study inspired by the Council’s own carbon advantage research, to estimate the carbon efficiency of dozens of industries across the world’s major economies.
We are encouraged by the PROVE IT Act’s forward momentum and submitted a letter of support to the committee alongside 10 other organizations who collectively represent a broad spectrum of industries and political ideologies, which you can

A better understanding of global emissions data will support better policies to promote U.S. economic and climate interests.
