Good morning,

This is a message to inform you about a 21-day public review and comment period for preliminary drafts to the Critical Area Regulations (CAR) chapters of Snohomish County Code (SCC).

The Growth Management Act (GMA) requires that Snohomish County periodically review the CAR and update them if needed. The GMA-mandated review and update must be completed in 2024 according to the schedule established in RCW 36.70A.130. The County has reviewed the existing chapters of code related to CAR, as well as the best available science since the last update in 2015 and produced preliminary drafts.

Please note that these are not final drafts. The 21-day public comment period will run from today, January 17^th, through February 7^th, 2024. Staff will work to consider and incorporate all public comments into the versions sent to the Planning Commission. Additional chances to provide comment will occur during the Planning Commission and County Council processes.
