As a Michigander, it’s no secret that we love the Great Lakes.

In the summer, they’re perfect for swimming. In the winter, when it’s cold enough and the water freezes over, they’re perfect for admiring.

Unfortunately, it looks like there won’t be much to marvel at this winter. At the beginning of January, the warmth of the winter season left the Great Lakes at their lowest ice cover in the last 50 years.

Where we’d normally be seeing 10% of the Great Lakes covered in ice at this time of year, we only reached .35%.

Make no mistake: This is a direct result of human-caused climate change.

And if we don’t take action ASAP, we’ll have to face the catastrophic consequences of severe flooding, ecosystem losses, and redistribution.

I’m fighting in Congress to not only preserve the Great Lakes, but to guarantee that we’re keeping the planet livable for future generations. Will you chip in $25 today to help Democrats take back the House so Congress can stop climate change in its tracks? [[link removed]]

We can’t reverse the damage that’s been done, but we can take action to prevent it from getting worse.
