Hi friend,

California has an outsized responsibility to prove we can solve the climate crisis and create the global roadmap. That is only possible with a climate-justice majority in Sacramento — something that we don’t currently have.

So I’m thrilled to announce a new venture from EnviroVoters’ Elect Climate Champions Fund that will help us attain that climate-justice majority by powering more climate-justice candidates to victory in the elections this year and in years to come.

Today, along with our promotional partners the Climate Center Action Fund and NRDC Action Fund, EnviroVoters is launching Give Green California, a new online platform to strategically help elect candidates at the state and local level who will champion bold policies to protect our environment and democracy. Because innovation and big change MUST begin at the statewide and local level.

Friend, I encourage you to go to GiveGreenCalifornia.org right now to check out the site and donate to priority climate-justice candidates up and down the state →

The truth is, California is an oil and gas state. Some of the country’s top oil-producing wells are found right here in California.

As a result, the oil and gas lobby is powerful and entrenched in our politics — in 2022, Oil and Gas spent over $34 million on campaigns and lobbying (and that’s only from what we can see!), nearly twice as much as progressive coalitions.

Nearly 2/3 of representatives in the last state legislature took oil money, including more than half of Democrats!

This new site will help voters to combat that, friend. Give Green California harnesses the power of political money in California for climate action by taking on corporate polluters and changing who is viable in elections.

By contributing through Give Green California, your contribution not only directly supports a climate-champion candidate but also sends a message that candidates don’t need money from oil and gas to get elected — because the power of the environmental and climate-justice movements are firmly behind them.

Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for supporters to find and donate to climate champions in California and help us remove climate delayers from their seats of power.

The website offers recommended “slates” of candidates, including priority candidates ([link removed]) running in some of the most critical races of this election season against oil-backed opponents. The site also features a Directory ([link removed]) of local and state-level green candidates that you can filter by region, office, and more.

Give Green California provides a Voter Guide ([link removed]) for the California Primary Election on March 5. And if you live in California, you can type in your address ([link removed]) to see which candidates on your ballot EnviroVoters has endorsed.

Friend, we no longer have the luxury of incremental change. We cannot afford to elect more legislators who will ignore the most pressing issue of our time and cave to corporate special interests.

With your support, we can keep up our momentum and make the California legislature an unstoppable, world-changing force for climate action.

We’ll never defeat corporate polluters dollar for dollar, but we will defeat them because we are organized, strategic, and part of a powerful movement fighting for the right cause.
