News from Representative Himes

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! As 2024 gets underway, I want to make sure you know about all the services my office has to offer.

Let me start by introducing myself: I was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to the United States with my mom and two sisters when I was 10. Before representing Connecticut’s 4th district in the United States Congress, I worked in business for 12 years and with a national non-profit for five years. Now, I serve on the House Financial Services Committee and as the Ranking Member—or top Democrat—on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

When I’m not meeting with constituents or voting on legislation in Congress, you can find me outdoors: biking, running, swimming, hiking, and oystering. I also keep bees, harvest honey, make mead, and brew beer. Above all, I value spending time with my wife, Mary, and my two daughters, Emma and Linley.

I came to Congress to make sure that hardworking families in Southwest Connecticut have access to the same opportunities that allowed me to succeed: high-quality public schools, affordable and effective health care, a comfortable and safe home, and a supportive community. The best way for me to stay true to my mandate is to hear directly from you about which legislative issues I should prioritize this year.

Please take this survey to let me know what you think.
