More and more anti-trans bills are being passed across the United States. But there's one silver lining to this disgusting bigotry: more and more trans people are stepping up to run!
But in Ohio, transphobes have been selectively enforcing a law about name-changes to force trans candidates off the ballot. Vanessa Joy has been kicked off the ballot (her challenge is pending), while more have faced after-the-fact-reviews of their campaigns. The state has never enforced this law – nor does the state ask about previous names on the filing - or list the rule in the candidate requirement guidelines!

The selective enforcement of this law makes it clear that bigots will do anything to keep trans people off the ballot, even if it means digging through the rulebooks to find standards other candidates did not have to abide by. Even Ohio Governor Mike DeWine - who just passed a regressive anti-trans executive order - agrees the law should be fixed!
