Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

DEFENSE SECRETARY LLOYD AUSTIN MUST RESIGN

Image

As a career Naval aviator, I find Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s evasiveness and lack of transparency completely unacceptable. It is also a serious breach of the public’s trust. The fact that the Administration was unaware for several days of the Secretary’s condition is at best a shocking display of incompetence.

I joined my MACH 1 Caucus colleagues to demand answers from President Biden regarding Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s delayed notification of his recent hospitalization.

We’re walking a thin line to avoid all-out war in the Middle East while the Secretary of Defense is missing in action. Congress must investigate this colossal blunder and the Secretary should resign immediately. If he does not resign, he must be dismissed.

DR. ANTHONY FAUCI'S FAILED PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERSHIP

Image

This week, Dr. Anthony Fauci was questioned by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, a committee I voted to create to investigate the origins of COVID and improve our nation’s pandemic response. Dr. Fauci’s 14-hour testimony exposed that the Administration's overreaching regulations were likely not based on scientific evidence.

During his two-day testimony, Dr. Fauci admitted:
  • The Wuhan lab leak hypothesis was NOT a conspiracy theory.
  • The "6 feet apart" social distancing guideline was likely not based on ANY data and "sort of just appeared.”
  • He advised American universities to impose vaccine mandates on students.

In Congress, we are conducting needed oversight to ensure mismanagement and coverups never happen again.

OPPOSING PRESIDENT BIDEN'S RADICAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE AGENDA

President Biden’s green energy policies designed to phase out gas-powered cars are causing heartburn for Americans and the auto industry.  Last week, Hertz, a major car rental company, announced they plan to sell 20,000 electric vehicles (EV) due to waning demand and high costs. Retailers like Ford are also slowing their investment and cutting production of EVs. In fact, only 7% of vehicles sold last year were EV. Americans don't want, nor can they afford these costly vehicles.

The President's EV priorities also have unintended consequences, propping up foreign economies at the expense of domestic manufacturing and consumer choice. That's why I have consistently voted to protect American consumers, workers and manufacturing:

  • I voted for S.J. Res. 38 to prevent the Biden Administration from waiving the "Buy America" requirements to quickly acquire new EV chargers. This supports American manufacturing and prevents U.S. tax dollars from benefiting foreign adversaries.
  • I voted for H.R. 4468, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act, to block the EPA from implementing stricter emission standards that effectively ban gas cars.
  • I voted for H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act, to prevent California and the federal government from implementing a radical environmental agenda and preserve Americans' ability to choose which cars they buy.

I'll always continue to oppose environmental extremism that robs Americans of freedom of choice and benefits our adversaries like China.
