Diabetes UK
Latest advice on coronavirus
Dear John,

I know we are all facing uncertain and very worrying times, so I wanted to personally write to reassure you that everyone at Diabetes UK is working hard to make sure we can support everyone who needs us. We’re here for you – and we’ll be with you every step of the way as we get through this, together.

You can find our latest coronavirus guidance for people living with diabetes, including answers to some of the questions people have been asking us here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/coronavirus

I hope this information will go some way to answering any questions you may have about what each new piece of advice from the government could mean for you and your family. While this situation is fast-changing, we are listening to you, and we’ll continue to update our information as quickly as possible as we learn more, and in response to the questions you’re asking.

We’re also working hard to make sure we can give you plenty of other information about staying well, keeping active, and looking after your emotional wellbeing, especially if you find yourself at home for an extended period of time.

We have an online forum with more than 20,000 members, and I know that many of you are finding this a supportive way to look out for one another and share experiences. You can find our forum here and you’d be very welcome to join.

Our helpline is also open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm, if you need to talk to us about any concerns or worries you have – you can reach us on 0345 123 2399, or by emailing [email protected].

If you’re involved with us and our work in a variety of ways - for example, if you volunteer with us or are taking part in one of our events – you’re likely to be hearing from us very soon with updates about the activities we had planned in light of the changing situation facing us all.

From our helpline team taking hundreds of calls every day, to our clinical team working round the clock to get up-to-date information to you as quickly as possible, we are doing everything we can to be there for everyone who needs us right now – and we are so grateful for the financial support we receive from so many of you which means we’re able to continue to provide these services. Thank you, we couldn’t do it without you.

I know this is likely to be a worrying time for many of us, and it’s important that we continue to support one another. Again, we are here for you, and will be by your side throughout.

Stay safe and well and please get in touch if you need to speak to someone.

Thank you and very best wishes,

Chris Askew
CEO
