Friend of Trust for Public Land,
Dysfunction in the House of Representatives has substantially delayed
and deadlocked important legislation and federal funding. As a direct
result, our nation yet again stands at the precipice of a government
shutdown.
The last time the federal government was shut down in 2019, it created
a crisis for our national parks and public lands.
Uncollected trash spilled over garbage bins. Human waste
overfilled pit toilets and ran onto roads and trails. Illegal parking,
camping, and off-road driving damaged trails, carved new paths through
endangered wilderness areas, and created unsafe conditions for
visitors. Most troubling of all, many irreplaceable cultural resources
were vandalized and stolen.
Send your message to your representative now: for the sake of our
public lands and national parks-and the safety of their
visitors-avoid a government shutdown.

Friend, we cannot allow a repeat of 2019. A
shutdown would mean that our majestic national parks and public lands
could be at risk of vandalism or damage. Congress must take action,
without extraneous policy disputes or draconian budget cuts, to avoid
a shutdown.

another government shutdown crisis.
