Louisiana Republican lawmakers introduced new proposed congressional maps. Lawmakers were ordered to draw a second majority-Black district after the current map was struck down for violating the Voting Rights Act. The Legislature has until Jan. 30 to enact a new map.

A New York appellate court rejected an attempt by the Republican National Committee and other GOP groups to block a new state law expanding mail-in voting. As of now, the law will remain in effect for the special election to fill George Santos' seat in February. Litigation will continue.

The RNC and Georgia Republican Party are arguing that a provision of the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional, while seeking to defend Georgia's absentee ballot application deadline from a legal challenge.

The Department of Justice filed a brief urging the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm a ruling requiring Pennsylvania to count valid mail-in ballots missing a handwritten date, or containing the incorrect date, on the outer envelope.
