John,

It’s Coby, Will’s Campaign Manager.

I know we email a lot, and this email is longer than usual, so I appreciate you bearing with us. Let’s start with three quick points:

  1. Online grassroots fundraising is a huge part of our quarterly fundraising. While we are waiting to see the fourth quarter reports, we know that in the third quarter, we outraised Calvert by $200,000 among grassroots donors who gave $199 or less (that’s a lot of people reading and contributing through emails like this one!).

  2. Therefore, we can’t afford any slowdowns in our online grassroots fundraising, which is why we carefully monitor which fundraising emails perform the strongest and optimize our program accordingly.

  3. I often hear from our biggest supporters that they’d love to hear more positive updates about the campaign through these emails (you’ve heard about Calvert’s extremism and baggage time and time again).

As a campaign, we’re always doing our best to listen to you, the grassroots team that is the backbone of our campaign. So I’ve got some positive updates below — and if this email is a top-performer for our campaign, we’ll send more emails like this one!

But first, John, as always, I’m politely asking for a contribution of $3 or more. We wouldn’t keep asking if we didn’t have to, but your sustained grassroots support is the only way we’ll beat Calvert. Please chip in what you can:

Okay, on to the updates…

Despite what you might be hearing, Democrats’ outlook to retake the House is looking strong. Redistricting in New York could give Democrats a boost in swing districts, and election experts at Inside Elections show Democrats with an advantage in 11 out of 12 “toss-up” districts.

We’re setting record fundraising goals (thanks to you!) and just hired a Field Director. This will allow us to connect with voters across the district on the ground, online, and everywhere in between. Our Palm Desert office is officially open, and our Corona office is soon on the way!

We’re already out knocking doors in Corona!

We just had a major victory in court against Calvert’s far-right allies. Calvert’s cronies filed a lawsuit to try and remove the word “counterterrorism” from Will’s ballot designation. A judge ruled that “counterterrorism” is staying on the ballot, and it’s a great opportunity for us to reinforce at the polls the big contrast between Will and Calvert on standing with law enforcement.

Election Day is officially less than 300 days away, and we’re feeling good about our chances in November. We feel it on the ground, hear it from voters, and know our momentum is building.

John, let’s take stock of all of the good that is happening in our campaign, never take a single thing for granted, and keep our foot on the gas to win this election. The stakes are far too high — and the consequences too great. That’s why I’m asking for your $3 contribution to power us forward before you close your inbox.

P.S. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s email. I enjoyed writing it. These “P.S.” lines might be gimmicky, but they always help drive in a few more contributions! So please contribute what you can here and let’s elect Will.
