Dear AFGE Activist,
We need Congress to pass a short-term CR to keep the government open while getting to work to provide full-year funding for the federal government before the new continuing resolution expires.
Twice since Fiscal Year 2023 ended on September 30, the federal government has narrowly avoided a shutdown thanks to bipartisan continuing resolutions passed by Congress at the last minute. Once again, the federal government is on track to shut down, unless Congress puts partisanship aside and passes a continuing resolution to keep the government open.
Congress must immediately get to work to pass a short-term CR and then full-year funding for the government. Send a letter to your lawmaker today!
Additionally, as you witnessed during the last potential closure, AFGE was a leading voice in the media as we shed light on the devastating impact a shutdown would have on working families. It is critical that we are able to share the importance of the work that we do, how we serve the American people, and why full government funding is needed NOW!
Local media outlets want to hear from you on how a shutdown impacts rank-and-file government employees. CLICK HERE to be added to our speakers bureau list. As a member of the AFGE Speakers Bureau, AFGE's Communications Department may reach out to you to discuss what a government shutdown means for employees like you and the services you provide to the American people with local and national media outlets.
In Solidarity,
AFGE
