John,
In a clear example of ethnic cleansing, top Israeli officials are openly calling to push millions of Palestinians out of Gaza—and advocating for replacing them with Israeli settlers.
Many Israeli politicians have demanded a “second Nakba,” referring to the catastrophe of 1948, when Zionist militias violently expelled 750,000 Palestinians from their lands, destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages, and massacred about 15,000 Palestinians.
A member of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet said: “We are now rolling out the Gaza Nakba.”
Some survivors of 1948’s Nakba fled to Gaza. Along with Palestinians in exile outside of Palestine, they were denied the right to return home. Now they and their descendants have become refugees once more, forced to flee multiple locations in just three months.
Dropping tens of thousands of U.S. bombs on the tiny Gaza Strip, the Israeli military has already forcibly displaced 2 million Palestinians—90% of Gaza’s population.
Sign the petition to the Biden administration: End this campaign of ethnic cleansing now. No more forced displacement of Palestinians, and no forced migration out of Palestine!
Razing entire neighborhoods to the ground and destroying a majority of buildings, Israel’s government has rapidly made much of Gaza uninhabitable.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military continues to bomb areas it designated as “safe” for Palestinian civilians.
Along with this brutal destruction, Israel’s government is depriving Palestinians in Gaza of food, water, shelter, medical assistance, and other basic needs.
What’s happening now is ethnic cleansing, which is a war crime.
But many Israeli politicians want to go even further, openly calling to permanently expel all Palestinians from Gaza.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Intelligence Minister has openly recommended the transfer of all Palestinians in Gaza to Egypt. Other senior officials in Netanyahu’s cabinet have made it clear that forced expulsion and resettlement is their goal.
Netanyahu has been trying to push countries to take displaced Palestinians, calling his plan “voluntary migration.” Of course, there’s nothing “voluntary” about bombing people to make them flee.
Biden and leaders in his administration say they reject forced displacement of Palestinians.
But their actions show otherwise: They are continuing to arm and fund Israel’s military as it commits these war crimes, while shielding Israel’s government from accountability.
Sign to Biden and leaders in his administration: Don't let Israel’s government expel Palestinians from their ancestral homeland or move Israeli settlers into Gaza. Stop supporting ethnic cleansing and war crimes!
We cannot allow our government to continue enabling the bombing or the blockade on Gaza, which has already killed at least 23,000 Palestinians. That’s 1 in every 100 people in Gaza!
Thank you for speaking up against our government’s complicity in oppression. May we continue building a better world together.
In solidarity,
Rashida
