John,

This Thursday (1/18) at 10:30 a.m. on Black Lives Matter Plaza in D.C., we’re joining the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council and other advocates for a “Menthol Funeral” to honor the 45,000 Black lives lost every year to tobacco.

Our message: The Biden Administration must approve the FDA's plan to eliminate menthol cigarettes without further delay.

We need you there with us!

For decades, tobacco companies have targeted Black communities and kids with menthol cigarettes, which are easier for kids to start, more addictive, and harder to quit than regular cigarettes. It's time for this to end. If the Biden Administration is truly committed to saving Black lives, it must issue the final rule prohibiting menthol cigarettes now. Delays cost lives.

Hope to see you at the event on Thursday to deliver this message to the White House.

Sincerely,

Amy Barkley
Director of Federal Field Operations
