A Message from Gabe

Welcome to 2024, Rhode Island!

As we start this new year, please know that I am working hard every single day to deliver for you and your families: to lower costs for critical needs, stand with our allies as a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and break through the gridlock in Congress to get things done.

There are many things that Congress can do over the next year to continue the progress that we made since President Biden took office. I hope to work across the aisle to make progress on ending gun violence. We must protect the investments in lower prescription drug and healthcare costs from the Inflation Reduction Act. And I will fight to make sure we are doing right by our seniors and defending Social Security and Medicare. These are only a few of my top priorities!

I hope you will continue to stay engaged. Can I ask your opinion on a matter that Congress will consider in the coming days?

Should Congress keep government operations open in advance of the January 19th funding deadline?

It was a good day to be at the White House with so many Rhode Islanders to highlight the impact of the Biden Administration and Democratic Congress' historic legislation on Rhode Island.

It was great to visit Brown University and learn about the ongoing local partnerships with NASA for both graduate & undergraduate research and K-12 opportunities.

It was an honor to join NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, federal, state, local leaders, and community members to discuss affordable housing development in Woonsocket.

I am pleased to share an opportunity for educators within the district! K-12 teachers and higher education faculty can apply to attend professional development programs funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). NEH is offering 44 programs for selected educators to develop new teaching methods and dive deep into humanities topics.

Please share this with the educators in your life! Programs will be offered online, in-person, and hybrid. The application deadline for all 44 programs is March 5, 2024. Learn more here.

Calling on Federal Action to Address Recent Severe Weather

Alongside Senators Reed and Whitehouse and Congressman Magaziner, I signed a letter calling on President Biden to swiftly deliver any needed federal assistance to the State of Rhode Island as we recover from the severe storms that have battered Rhode Island several times in recent months.
