In John Bolton’s latest op-ed in The Hill, he outlines Iran's complex "ring of fire" strategy. He goes on to say how the events of October 7th launched a much larger conflict than just one between Israel and Hamas. This conflict is fully funded and orchestrated by Iran through proxies to defeat Israel and the West.

It’s clear that we are seeing more and more evidence of the “ring of fire” including the Houthis ongoing attacks on vessels in the Red Sea. These actions by the Houthis and other Iran proxies are not isolated, but instead coordinated through financing and weaponry provided by Iran.
John Bolton believes that Biden and the West must respond to Iran with strong deterrence. Last weekend's air strikes against the Houthi were obviously not enough. Bolton also asserts that how Israel and the U.S. directly responds to Iran for these assaults on Israel will chart the future course in the Middle East and beyond.
