Friend, Trump wasn't the only one who won the Iowa caucus last night. MAGA extremism won. Hatred won. And America lost.

I'm running out of new ways to describe just how dangerous and out of touch Trump is. He wants to weaken reproductive rights and voting rights. He told grieving families to "get over" a school shooting that happened just days ago. He literally tried to overturn the 2020 election and stop the peaceful transition of power. And now, he's promised to "be a dictator one day one" if he's reelected.

Watching Trump's campaign as an American and a proud immigrant, I am infuriated, I am disappointed, and, truthfully, I am scared.

I grew up in Ecuador, a country where political violence was the norm. Basic concepts like safety and financial security were simply out of reach for most people. When I finally became an American citizen, it was one of the happiest and proudest days of my life. But underneath all the celebration, there was something else: I was safe.

You see, at the end of the day, the American Dream is about being safe — safe to express yourself, to exercise your freedoms, to receive an incredible education, to access health care, to build financial stability, and to have a say in the future of your country. That's a privilege that so few are afforded.

As I celebrated my new citizenship surrounded by hundreds of other cheering and crying families, I realized that this incredible privilege came with an incredible civic responsibility to protect the American Dream that we're so lucky to enjoy.

Today, Donald Trump and MAGA extremists like Rick Scott are attacking the American Dream. Ya no más. Enough is enough. We cannot let these radicals destroy the country that we've fought so hard to build. That's why I'm running to defeat Rick Scott: so that generations of Americans can keep feeling safe the way that I finally did when I became a U.S. citizen.

I know that this campaign has what it takes to win — polling shows our message of unity has already made this race a tie. But Rick Scott is already spending millions to defeat us. So please, if you believe that we have a responsibility to protect the American Dream, will you donate $25 now to help me defeat MAGA extremism and defend everything that we hold dear?
