DMV Indivisibles,

[ [link removed] ]Join us tomorrow, January 17 for the Stop the RELENTLESS Power Grab
rally on the steps of the Supreme Court at 8:30am ET.

The Supreme Court’s (SCOTUS) regressive conservative majority has not
stopped at just weakening our voting rights, refusing to stem the tide of
gun violence, or stripping away our reproductive rights. They are
currently looking to rip apart the very fabric under which our government
is able to operate -- extremist justices are coming after the Chevron
doctrine.

The Chevron doctrine is the decision establishing that, absent explicit
policy, government agencies have the right to reasonably interpret
statutes. Why is this so important? Imagine you’re the Architectural and
Transportation Barriers Compliance Board trying to issue guidance on
accessible entrances, but Congress has not passed a policy explicitly
naming the correct size of an accessible doorway in each unique situation,
the Chevron doctrine is what allows them the leeway to make that
determination.

Without that ability, government will grind to a halt -- unable to make
any reasonable decisions for themselves. Even [ [link removed] ]arch-conservative Justice
Antonin Scalia admitted that the Chevron doctrine would endure, “not
because it represents a rule that is easier to follow and thus easier to
predict (though that is true enough), but because it more accurately
reflects the reality of government, and thus more adequately serves its
needs.”

But the conservative majority in the Supreme Court is determined to grab
as much power as they possibly can in this moment regardless of the cost
to the American people.

Tomorrow, SCOTUS will hear arguments in Relentless Inc. v. Department of
Commerce (with Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo), cases specifically
designed to attack the Chevron doctrine by conservative activists. The
Court’s decision in these cases could mean life-tenured, radical justices,
rather than elected officials and expert public servants, will decide
whether:

* Seniors get Social Security benefits or not
* Workers have basic safety protections on the job or not
* Scientists or special interests get to shape our environmental and
drug safety standards
* Our government works for the people or the justices’ corporate
benefactors.

We cannot allow these extremists to succeed. Here’s how you help:

 1. [ [link removed] ]Join our coalition at the Stop the RELENTLESS Power Grab rally
tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, at 8:30am on the steps of the Supreme
Court. We must make it known that the American people see what these
MAGA justices are attempting to do and will not sit idly by as they
grab for more power at the expense of the American people.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Contact Congress and tell them to stop the Relentless power grab.
It’s not enough for SCOTUS to potentially rule in favor of the
American people in this one case. We’ve seen time and again that they
are overreaching their authority in order to secure partisan wins.
It’s time Congress did something to stand up to these MAGA justices.

Republican activist justices have done enough harm to this country.
[ [link removed] ]Join us tomorrow to stop the Relentless power grab before they have
more control over our freedoms, communities, and democracy.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
