Nottingham City Council?s budget consultation closes today
budget
Today is the last chance to have your say as part of consultation on the council?s budget proposals for 2024/25.
The council faces a ?50m budget gap in 2024/25 due to issues facing many councils across the country including:
* ?the cost of increased demand for adult care and children?s services
* ?a rise in homelessness presentations
* ?inflation and unfunded national pay increases
Less funding and skyrocketing demand for our services means difficult decisions will have to be made about the services we provide.
Tell us what you think of our proposals before midnight tonight, so we know what services are most important to you

Half a million books given to Nottingham children.
Dolly Books
A Nottingham scheme that gives free books to children has now delivered its 500,000th book to a young reader in the city through Dolly Parton?s Imagination Library.
The book-gifting charity was introduced in the city in 2009 and now has nearly 5,400 children registered to have a book delivered to their door every month ? covering half of the city?s 20 wards.
The Imagination Library improves children?s literacy levels so that they are better prepared to start school. Age-appropriate books are personally addressed to the child every month from birth, allowing them to build up a library of 60 books over five years.
Close to 11,000 youngsters have now benefitted from the programme across the city during the past 15 years.

Gritting
The forecast remains undecided about whether the city will see some snow but it will still be a very cold week in the city with night-time temperatures below freezing until the weekend.
So, expect to see our gritting teams out and about this week, and please take care when travelling in icy conditions.
See our gritting routes, and where to find your nearest grit bin for the roads we don?t cover here. [ [link removed] ]
