Actions for the week of January 15, 2024
Welcome to 2024, Activists!
Thank you for making our inaugural run of quick actions in 2023 so impactful – together, we created huge swells of support for clean energy, corporate accountability, and the protection of our environment (in just a little time).
Now, with more important challenges to tackle collectively, let’s hit the ground running with our very first climate actions of the new year!
Action 1
☕🎒🐢 Got Coffee? Bring Your Own Reusable Cup!
Swear off non-recyclable single-use coffee cups for 2024 (plastic-lined and lidded cups will stick around long after the last sip). Pack your own cup in your backpack or bag when on the go — you’ll be doing your part to reduce plastic waste while enjoying the same favorite ritual.
Action 2
⚡☠️🙅♀️ Stop Climate-busting U.S. Liquid Natural Gas Exports
In the face of the climate crisis, the Federal Government must stop the expansion of gas exports (we’re now the biggest exporter of gas on the planet). Sign this petition calling on President Biden and Energy Secretary Granholm to halt harmful LNG exports and get on course to meet our climate goals.
Action 3
📞📒🗽 Call on Gov. Hochul to Support the Climate Superfund Act!
Call Governor Hochul (518-474-8390) — press 1 to leave a message or 2 to speak to a representative.
Start by thanking the Governor for supporting an end to gas subsidies and gas system expansion in her State of the State address. Then, let her know that we need big polluters to pay for the damage they’ve already caused to the climate, as laid out in the Climate Superfund Act. An ancillary bill to the State’s climate goals, it will hold polluters to account and pave the way to fund investments in climate-forward infrastructure and resources for frontline communities.
