U.S. politicians are calling for military force against drug cartels in Mexico – how did we get here, and how can the U.S.-Mexico relationship be demilitarized? Please join the Quincy Institute for a virtual webinar event in which Aileen Teague, Quincy Institute Non-Resident Fellow and Assistant Professor at Texas A&M’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, will discuss a new QI brief she has recently published examining these questions.
QI Non-Resident Fellows Christy Thornton, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Latin American Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and Miguel Tinker Salas, Professor Emeritus of Latin American History, will join the conversation and contribute their perspective on the root causes of the current instability and militarization in the U.S.-Mexico bilateral security relationship, and potential pathways forward. Kelley Beaucar Vlahos, Editorial Director of Responsible Statecraft and Senior Advisor at the Quincy Institute, will moderate the panel.
