As we continue to navigate these challenging times of ever higher inflation and less money in our pockets, I am thrilled to share some uplifting news with you. Tomorrow, I will be introducing a significant tax cut package in the legislature.
The Consumer Tax Relief Act is not just a set of legislative proposals; it's a reflection of our shared values and our steadfast dedication to enhancing the financial freedom and prosperity of our community. In the face of rising living costs and economic uncertainty, it's more important than ever that we take decisive action to support our hardworking citizens.
Key Highlights of the Tax Cut Package:
Elimination of the Communications Services Tax (CST): Recognizing the essential nature of communication services, we are taking steps to eliminate the CST, thereby reducing the financial burden on our families and businesses.
Reduction of the Meals and Rooms Tax: In an effort to make dining out and tourism more affordable, we are proposing a reduction in the Meals and Rooms Tax. This will not only benefit consumers but also bolster our local hospitality industry. By the end of our proposed tax relief roadmap, our New Hampshire Meals & Roomns Tax will be lower than Massachusetts!
Employer Tax Relief: We're proposing more reductions to both the Business Profits Tax (BPT) and the Business Enterprise Tax (BET). This move is designed to invigorate our local economy, encourage business growth, and create more job opportunities for our residents.
Support for Local Communities: While we cut the Meals & Rooms Tax rate, we are also increasing revenue sharing to the municipalities to ensure they are not adversely affected by the tax relief package.
This package is a direct response to the economic challenges imposed by external factors, including policies from Washington D.C. that have contributed to the rising cost of living. It's time we take control of our economic destiny and provide tangible relief to our citizens.
