[ stdin# ]Women’s March
Hi John,
Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. And while there are many aspects
of his life worth lifting up, today we focus on his legacy of igniting the
civic imagination of millions of people across race and place, to fight
together for a different future. While aspects of his dream are still not
our lived reality, few moved the moral arc of the universe towards justice
as sharply as he did.

Dr. King did this from the pulpit, from his writings and speeches, and
from the streets. He embraced a multitude of tactics to achieve his
vision. All were welcome to his vision, but all had to work concretely
towards justice.
We honor his legacy by continuing to build people power inside of
movements by putting our head down and just doing the messy, difficult
work of pushing everyone, most of all, ourselves, to realize his vision of
a more just future.
Hope is not a fragile thing and pursuing justice is not for the easily
discouraged. What MLK taught us is that moving the moral arc is manual
labor. It is like pushing a broken-down car down the block to the mechanic
on a hot summer day. But we know that the journey is worth the struggle,
and more possible when we do it together.
In service,
Women's March
