Biden Economy Is Not Working As voters in Iowa head to caucus, the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a new reminder that “Bidenomics” is not working for hardworking families. The December CPI report released this week shows inflation is back on the rise. The year-over-year Consumer Price Index rose to 3.4% last month. What you need to know: Core consumer prices — not including food and energy costs — shot up by 3.9% year-over-year. The “higher than expected” numbers comes amid “a reversal of some of the declines” from previous months. It’s the 33rd straight month with inflation above three percent and caps a year in which Americans saw massive price increases. Areas that saw huge increases in inflation over the past year: Electricity: +25% Food prices: +20.2% Rent: +18.6% Car insurance: +20.3% Sporting event tickets: +14.9% Veterinarian services: +10.8% Car repair: +10.3% Nonprescription drugs +8.3% Baby food: +7.3% Trash collection: +6.5% Rent: +6.2% Dining out: +5.2% Americans are seeing prices increase as real wages remain lower than when Biden took office, a 2.5% pay cut. Gas prices remain about 30% higher today than the day Biden took office. On January 20, 2021, the nationwide average for regular gasoline was $2.39/gallon. Today, it is $3.09/gallon. Inflation remains twice the rate it was when Biden took office. The bottom line: Americans know Joe Biden and the Democrats are to blame for rising prices and the poor economy. Just 14% of voters say they have been helped by Biden’s economic policies, and 78% say the economy is in bad shape according to a Fox News survey. As voters head to the polls, they will remember Republican leadership will get our nation’s economy back on track.
