Today, we honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose contributions and sacrifices have made our country a more fair and equitable one.
Today is yet another reminder of the importance of having honest conversations, reckoning with our own uncomfortable history with white supremacy and racism, and above all else educating ourselves and taking the time to reflect on the complex and diverse experiences that come with being Black in the United States.
More than 50 years after his assassination, Dr. King’s legacy can be seen and felt in every corner of the country and in today’s racial justice movement. Today it is up to each and every one of us to play a part in continuing to live by the values Dr. King espoused.
