Hi John,
I don't know if you've ever read "Letter from a Birmingham jail" but I would humbly ask you to take 10 minutes today and read, perhaps, the most brilliant prose ever written. I have read it many times and each time I find something more prophetic. Today, Dr. King's words ring louder than ever: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
My race isn't really about politics. It isn't, fundamentally, even about policy. It is, above all, about character, honesty, integrity and the abiding notion that we are a better version of ourselves when we help to better others. It is a steadfast belief that we have a duty and obligation to try as best we can to live a life of consequence so that others can as well.
We are...tied together...and that is beautiful.
