Hi John,

Today, I will be joining many of you across the country in honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by marching, volunteering, and serving others.

The vision Dr. King had for our country was never deterred by politics or partisanship. Rather, Dr. King was guided by the belief that every person — no matter their skin color — deserves equal rights. In the effort for civil rights legislation, he and so many others were unwavering and, John, we must be unwavering in our work too.

In honor of Dr. King on this national day of service, let’s not view today as a day off, but a day on—it’s an opportunity to recommit to the spirit of service and the fight for a more just world.
